Your Move, Next Move, Last Move

Since the mid 1990’s my work has consisted of object-based sculpture. My working class roots have been the impetus for my production and motivation as an artist. A product of a family of laborers, I myself spent many years’ working beside my mother and older brother in an injection-molding factory in Rhode Island.

By employing processes associated with manufacturing and technical engineering, I strive to maximize the potential of material through which it’s history and common application I connect. I see myself as a builder or fabricator of objects that have a sense of familiarity yet are curious in their function. Through the use of scale my hope is to remove the object from the realm of utilitarianism and place it in a context where its structure and form are to be contemplated by the viewer. My concern for form, material and skilled manipulation is paramount.
